{"id":359,"date":"2025-05-13T03:57:48","date_gmt":"2025-05-13T11:57:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/redrideraz.com\/2025\/?p=359"},"modified":"2025-05-13T03:57:48","modified_gmt":"2025-05-13T11:57:48","slug":"day-fifteen-siloam-springs-ar","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/redrideraz.com\/2025\/2025\/05\/13\/day-fifteen-siloam-springs-ar\/","title":{"rendered":"Day Fifteen &#8211; Siloam Springs, AR"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Yesterday several folks said, &#8220;You sure picked a beautiful day for a motorcycle ride&#8221; or words to that effect. \u00a0This morning those people were silent. \u00a0This is what it looked like less than an hour after I checked in yesterday afternoon.<\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 584px;\" class=\"wp-video\"><video class=\"wp-video-shortcode\" id=\"video-359-1\" width=\"584\" height=\"1038\" preload=\"metadata\" controls=\"controls\"><source type=\"video\/mp4\" src=\"https:\/\/redrideraz.com\/2025\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_0559.mp4?_=1\" \/><a href=\"https:\/\/redrideraz.com\/2025\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_0559.mp4\">https:\/\/redrideraz.com\/2025\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_0559.mp4<\/a><\/video><\/div>\n<p>It rained the rest of the night. \u00a0I was pretty sure that today was gonna be the day I had to suit up for the rain. \u00a0I got everything I could inside the hard bags on the bike and a trash bag over my &#8220;suitcase&#8221; on top of the trunk. \u00a0I was just hoping that I would have some cover to get under when it was time to put my waterproofs on. \u00a0Doing that on the side of the road is much more difficult &#8211; especially a road like this.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-365\" src=\"https:\/\/redrideraz.com\/2025\/wp-content\/uploads\/Road-15-1-1024x750.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"584\" height=\"428\" srcset=\"https:\/\/redrideraz.com\/2025\/wp-content\/uploads\/Road-15-1-1024x750.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/redrideraz.com\/2025\/wp-content\/uploads\/Road-15-1-300x220.jpg 300w, https:\/\/redrideraz.com\/2025\/wp-content\/uploads\/Road-15-1-768x563.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 584px) 100vw, 584px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I was watching the weather radar and timed my departure between two bands of rain. \u00a0The roads were fairly wet but not wet enough for the tires to splash up very much water. \u00a0The last time I was in the area, Bert and I rode along the border of Arkansas and Missouri on our way to Branson. That was an amazing road so I headed that direction &amp; was not disappointed. \u00a0I took the turns more slowly since the traction provided by wet asphalt is considerably less than dry asphalt, but that doesn&#8217;t mean I wasn&#8217;t enjoying myself. \u00a0These are country roads and I had them all to myself. \u00a0I highly recommend Missouri&#8217;s Arkansas border road. \u00a0<strong>I&#8217;ll be back!!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I was thinking I&#8217;d head for Branson, but more than that, I was trying to outrun the rain behind me and not catch up with what was in front of me. \u00a0I call it riding into the light. It&#8217;s a little game I play with Mother Nature &#8211; I rarely win. I was ahead in our little game until I got to Bakersfield, MO. \u00a0I stopped for some gas station brunch and to stretch my legs, and stayed a little too long &#8211; it started raining &#8211; <em>sigh<\/em>. \u00a0It took 20 minutes to get out in front of it, and by then I was pretty wet. \u00a0Another win for Mother Nature.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-366\" src=\"https:\/\/redrideraz.com\/2025\/wp-content\/uploads\/Road-15-2-1024x717.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"584\" height=\"409\" srcset=\"https:\/\/redrideraz.com\/2025\/wp-content\/uploads\/Road-15-2-1024x717.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/redrideraz.com\/2025\/wp-content\/uploads\/Road-15-2-300x210.jpg 300w, https:\/\/redrideraz.com\/2025\/wp-content\/uploads\/Road-15-2-768x538.jpg 768w, https:\/\/redrideraz.com\/2025\/wp-content\/uploads\/Road-15-2-1536x1075.jpg 1536w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 584px) 100vw, 584px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The skies ahead looked promising. \u00a0High clouds vs low clouds and much more light coming through them. \u00a0Bonus &#8211; he just wasn&#8217;t old enough to know how to use his legs &#8211; a newborn for sure. \u00a0His mom went through a hole in the fence but he missed the hole. \u00a0He bumped his nose against the fence then curled up, hiding until his mom could return for him. \u00a0I was tempted to go somewhere out of sight and see how long it took her to come back &#8211;
